Ive never felt like I belonged anywhere like I did in the combat zones I was in. Combat isnt all cool firefights and stuff blowing around you all the time. The thing I miss about it is doing the job I signed up for and being with my brothers. With them I could be the unedited version of myself and we were all one family, and unit. I will never really feel that level of attachment and comfort to something ever again.
